DL-Methionine

White flake crystal or crystalline powder. It has a special smell. It's slightly sweet.

Melting point 281 degrees (decomposition). The pH value of 10% aqueous solution is 5.6-6.1. It has no optical rotation. It is stable to hot and empty chemical Book gas. It is unstable to strong acid, which can lead to demethylation. It is soluble in water (3.3g/100ml, 25 ℃), dilute acid and dilute solution. It is very insoluble in ethanol and almost insoluble in ether.
